This book was never intended for release.

It is an amalgamation of diary entries I composed between the ages of twenty-one to twenty-four. It speaks of the experiences that many young women go through. A collection of poetry about life: Generational trauma, grief, heartbreak, politics, family, hope, feminism, race, diaspora and love.

The Shadow of my Ancestral Tree is the reason why I am alive. My blood, tears and sweat lace every word written within. This book is about breaking generational trauma and paying homage to those who broke their backs planting trees, so that we would feel their shade. This book is about change, making our story about hope rather than sorrow.

This is a book for the voiceless.

I have a story to tell.

The book shows why there is so much confusion surrounding these conditions and how they impact on recovery, at a time when the after effects of Covid are being felt across all of society. 'Breaking Free' allows readers to understand the science behind the symptoms, and learn how to work with the body to rebalance the autonomic system. You will be guided through step by step, at your own pace, and offered techniques to speed up recovery, before being shown what it takes to stay healthy and robust, no matter what challenges life brings. There is no magic: the answer lies within ourselves.

9781912092161 Prison. It is a word that conjures up loss, bleakness and despair. A place where those who have broken the law are kept, both for punishment and for the safety of society. But behind these images are human stories, accounts of tragic mistakes and broken lives, woven in-between with hope. For those inside prison, it is hope that often keeps them going: for the future, for those they care for, and for the chance to start afresh upon release. This collection of 20 pieces by serving prisoners and people on probation explores the under-side of the criminal justice system – the side that does not make it into tabloids or documentaries. We get a chance to see the stories, thoughts and experiences of those condemned by the courts and, in many cases, by society too. Importantly, we learn how many are repentant of the past; how some are in the midst of their own battles for justice, and how all cling onto hope.
